SOFFA WEEKEND

In the beginning of February, after finally polishing our latest issue, SOFFA 19, our team went for a weekend trip. We ventured to the middle of the Czech Republic to the Vysocina Region and it was our pleasure to stay in one of the Domesi concept wooden houses in small village called Budíkov.

Domesi Concept House 2 in Budíkov was built with massive wooden panels and suits the standards of passive houses and buildings. The unique heating system is provided by a combination of solar energy and energy provided by household appliances and people. Architects Pavel Horák and Václav Zahradníček considered the architecture and interior design as a complex idea. Which is why you can find wood all over the inside of the house. The bedrooms are furnished by Jitona, the dining room is dominated by TON table and chairs and the design lighting is provided by Brokis, which all Czech companies.

We also had some spare time to walk around the surroundings of Budíkov. In the village Lipnice nad Sázavou located few kilometres away, we visited medieval castle established by Lichtemburgs with stunning view over the area. Another curiosity of the village is that it used to be place, where Czech author Jaroslav Hašek wrote his most famous piece - The Good Soldier Švejk.

In the local woods you can find mysterious rock reliefs called Bretschneider's ear, The Mouth of Truth and Golden Eyes, created by sculptor Radomír Dvořák.
